With a mirror and light I can see my tank sticker. It appears whole! Its dirty, wrinkled and obviously I cant read it with the tank in the car. Probably wont be able to read it once the tank is dropped, even on a 46K car? Scoured most of the archives and didnt find any mention on how to remove the sticker. My first inclination is to gently dust it off with a soft brush. If its ledgable I will take digital pics before attempting anything. If it looks like it will come off with out damage I may do so? If not I'll leave it alone. What are some methods for removal, preservation on the car and enhancement of the "type" for pics if I leave it alone? Steam, chemical, glue desolver, soak it with D.I. H20 and mild soap, scrape with a razor? None of these sound like good ideas??

Re: 68,C3 tank sticker
Dave - a very rigid solution could potentially be removing the complete gas tank plus sticker from the car and replace it with a repro tank. After that there is plenty of time to consider good alternatives (if any).

Re: 68,C3 tank sticker
Dave,
There have been many posts regarding tank sticker preservation, a job for professional archivalists only. First, and most importantly, DO NOT blow or brush off with anything as the dust may take some printing inks with it. One poster mentioned using a razor blade scraper VERY CAREFULLY to seperate the tank sticker from the tank. Whatever you do, exercise extreme caution. Perhaps others with experience will chime in.
