'81 - Location of oil pressure sensor

Ok, yet another thing on my engine that I'm not sure where it belongs. I lost my tag on the oil pressure sensor, telling me where it goes. However, I have a pipe plug in a hole the same size as the pipe for the sensor installed in a hole that is on the top of the block, just behind the rear edge of the intake manifold on the Driver's side. However, I think that plug was always there and the oil pressure sending unit goes elsewhere. Can anyone help? I'm als trying to find in the AIM, but sometimes that's like a needle in a haystack...

For a 1981 the oil PRESSURE sender is installed on the engine block at the rear of the intake manifold as you described. A special elbow is installed into the block fitting and the sender installs into the fitting on the elbow.

If the car is equipped with any of the optional radios, then an oil TEMPERATURE sender is installed at the fitting above the oil filter on the side of the block.

Thanks Joe. I got the pressure sending unit installed as you suggested. I will look for the fitting for the oil temp sender tomorrow.
