62 hood latch colors

Hi All

I need some info from experts here. The guy that painted my car is a corvette restorer. I asked him about the colors of the hood latches on my 62 vette. He told me the female part is Zinc plated and the male part is a Gold Cad color plate.He showed me what they look like. Now on this board I have read that they were all black.Who is correct. I believe him, but would like to here from some of you people who have the knowledge and untouched latches.

In 62, both the male and female latches were a light gold dicromate finish, but both were blacked out during the underhood blackout process, as were the hood hinges. Depending on the applicator and the ammount of oil on the latches, the latches should show somewhere between partial to full coverage with blackout paint. The cables and stops were not installed at this time and should show no blackout.
