    63 Capacitor install in dash

I just got my 63 cluster back from restoration. I was missing the capacitors that mount behind it. I was able to buy them. The AIM shows one mounting just below the ammeter. The other mounts just below the oil pressure gage. I can't find a good picture in the AIM but that is where they are shown. I just don't see how they could properly fit there. The mounting bracket is too large to allow the screw to seat properly. The headlight switch seems to be too close. What am I missing? Your help as always is appreciated.

    Bob -

Here's a photo of a cluster with the capacitors in place, except the one adjacent to the ignition switch has been removed - its clamp is there, however. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the picture. It actually causes me some confusion. The back of my gage cluster is raised where the oil temp and fuel batt gages are. I tried to install the capacitors in the same locations you have but they won't fit. I have a photo of the cluster at my office if I could figure out how to post I would.

Is your cluster a 63? All the 63 and 64 clusters I've seen have the same raised area.

          Bob -

Nope, the cluster in the photo is a '67. Just looked back in my archive, and I have some '63 cluster backside photos (without capacitors shown, unfortunately) and they have the "raised" backplates for the small gauges you mentioned. Maybe someone else has a photo of a '63 cluster with the capacitors.
