    Best Car Cover?

Anyone have any opinions on the best car cover to protect against the sun and heat?

My '67 is rarely left outdoors but when it is at a show it is usually in intense sun. (I live in Texas) I will be at the nationals in San Antonio in August and for those that have never experienced an August in south Texas you are in for a treat. At the nationals, the cars will be staged outside on Tuesday, left there overnight and Ops will be done the next day then they will be placed inside.

I want to protect against the intense heat from the Texas sun in August. I am currrently looking at three diferent covers. 1) Block It 350F; 2)NOAH; Weathershield HD. Anyone have any opinion on these or other good covers that might meet my needs?

    Thanks for your time.

I bought mine at Bloomington 2 years ago from vettesundercover.com It's been a fantastic cover as it is advertised to be the most expensive and thickest doublefaced, 100% breathable flannel on the market. It's hand sewn by tailors, super-soft and fits like a glove. Check out their website.

Even a cover designed for indoor use will provide good UV protection and will not disintegrate with a few days a year outdoor use. Like a simple t-shirt that will protect us from sunburn, nearly any fabric will absorb most of the UV.

As far as infrared reflection is concerned, the best material IMO is duPont Tyvek, but Tyvek covers are very light and unwieldy even in minor wind, so they are not popular.

I use a "double cover" philosophy for my daily drivers that have to sit outside while they are in service - an Evolution 4 under a Tyvek cover. It's a little bulky, but the "body" provided by the Evo 4 cover keeps the Tyvek top cover under control.

With the Tyvek top cover the interior barely gets hotter than ambient air temperature even if the car sits all day in the hot sun. Published tests also so the lowest interior temperature rise with Tyvek. (Google on Tyvek for the info.)

The only Tyvek cover I know of is Budge Premier, and I buy them at Walmart for forty bucks. They are my "sacraficial anode" and last about 3 years, but provide excellent protection to both the Evo 4 undercover, and, of course, the car.

        Re: Best Car Cover?

I'm considering buying a C4 or C5 that'd have to stay outdoors all year in the Northeast. I know that's not ideal. This would be a Summer daily driver. It would not be driven in the Winter, but it would stay outdoors. A car cover figures prominently into how I'd care for this car. I'd like to cover it every night during the Summer while I drove the car. But I don't want to wash the car every day. I thought it was not good to cover a dirty car. Something about the fabric collecting dirt and then scatching the car. Comments?
