I need to replace my rear 9 leaf spring. First, is there any problem going to heavy duty 7 Leaf spring? Second, can anyone tell me where the best source might be in terms of quality? I have seen too many new springs put on Corvettes with the back end too when finished. Last, is a possible to add a rear sway bar without modifications to the chassis? Thank you

You can add a 7 leaf spring to your car without problem. In fact, after GM discontinued the 9 leaf spring, they recommended the 7 leaf spring as a replacement for all Corvettes originally equipped with the 9 leaf. Unfortunately, the GM 7 leaf spring has now been discontinued, also.
As far as "reproductions" go, I've not found a truly accurate reproduction in the Corvette marketplace. I would have to say that the "GM-licensed" "reproduction" available from Eaton Detroit Spring is probably about the best there is out there.
As far as the addition of a rear sway bar to your car, you can do it IF your car has the bracket weld nuts on the frame. NOT ALL 63-82 Corvettes do. Check your AIM for nut location. Otherwise, you will need to use an aftermarket bar. Also, ALL of the GM rear sway bars are long-since discontinued and are not reproduced. So, if you go "factory", you'll need to find a good used one. These usually sell for $100-200. Plus, you need mounting hardware, most of which is still available or available in reproduction. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
