I have original comfortweave seats. My problem is the foam that is sewn in each vertical "pleat" of the comfortweave seat cover seems flat and somewhat hard compared to new reproductions. Does anyone know of a way to soften up or rejuvenate the foam?

Ken
Using steam on your seat covers when the foam is in the powder state would be like mixing water with sawdust. You might find a shop that would unstitch your original seat covers and replace the padding between the pleats but i think it would be impossible or close to it. If so it would be $$$$$$$ Most shops would just replace your covers with after market...Al Knoch or one of the other companies out there. Good Luck- Top

Well, I tried. I found the steam instantly made the foam soft and resilient. After awhile however, it began to become hard again. Not as hard as before the steam, but not nearly as resilient as new. I wish the new steam affect would last. So tell me, new aftermarket covers or somewhat hard perfect original? (perfect besides the foam hardening).- Top

Re: restoration of original foam in comfortweave s
This is the seat foam rubber type cushions in my 55 where I used the steam water injection years ago because it was smashed down over the years of wear. As you can see it's like new again and you can even read the part # and company name, I did it 26 years ago and it's still good. But it was NOT turning in to dust before I did it. The repro cushions are crap in my opinion because they arnt made right and dont fit the soft top lid area at the top seat area like the original, ( see other pic) many 53 to 55 haveing the repro's have a large gap in that area where you can put your hand between them.
