Can any one identify this engine. I know it is a 350, I think 1969. Casting #3970010, pad #'s - K09 23 CNV. Thanks, Joe NCRS # 33311.

What you have is, indeed, a Chevy 350 cid engine. It was originally installed in an early-production full size 1970 Chevrolet passenger car with 250 hp, 2 barrel carburetor, and a TurboHydramatic 350 transmission. Given the assembly date of September 23, the year of casting and assembly was almost certainly 1969, as you suspect. This particular engine was assembled, and probably cast, at the St. Catherines, Ontario Canada GM engine plant as indicated by the "K" prefix code. You will probably find a large "K" also prominently cast somewhere on the block.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -
