    C1 ground questions

I need help again. I have three groundwire questions for my '56 :

    1. the ground strap that is just below the ballast resistor, one end is connected to the bolt of the cowl vent mechanism that comes through the firewall, where does the other end connect to? I think it goes to the accellerator bracket at the firewall but not sure. The AIM shows it attaching to the accellerator linkage but I know that is wrong.

    2. the black ground wire that leads from the heater motor next to the brown wire, about five inches long, I think connects to the outer squirrel cage?

    3. I have a black wire that one end was attached to the back of the speaker frame behind the dash, where does the other end go? It is about twelve inches long. I don't remember anything about this one.

    Thanks!

    Re: C1 ground questions

Gary, On my 56 the black wire from the cowl bolt goes to the L/H bolt that attaches the wiper motor mounting plate to the cowl.
I have a brown ground wire from the 10 oclock blower motor mounting screw to the upper gauge mounting bolt between the oil pressure gauge and clock.
I have no black wire to the speaker frame. Rob

      Re: C1 ground questions

      Rob,
I'm good on the black ground from the wiper, how about the ground 'strap" that attaches to the other bolt coming through the firewall from the cowl mechanism? I know that it attaches to this bolt but don't know where the other end goes. The strap is only about six inches long so it can't go too many places.

My heater motor has a long brown wire that runs to the heater switch and then a black ground wire that comes out of the heater motor at the same place as the brown wire. (There is also a white wire that runs from another spade on the heater switch to the fuse block.) This black wire is only about 5-6 inches long and really won't reach anywhere else but one of the phillips screws that holds the motor to the squirrel cage. Any thoughts on this one? Thanks.

        Re: C1 ground questions

If you are talking about the braided ground strp mine if from the bolt that attaches the throttle arm to the shaft that comes through the firewall to thesame bolt that the black wire from the wiper plate attaches to.

My blower motor only has one wire (brown) out of the motor to the switch. The ground is as in the post above. Sounds to me like the black wire you have will have to be attached to one of the screws that hold the blower motor to the box along with another ground wire from there to the oil pressure/clock gauge mounting bolt in order to pick up a ground
