    C1 Temp Sender Painted?

    Hi all,

I have a base engine 1960 and thus it has the cast iron intake painted orange along with the thermostat housing and clip for the carb return spring. I got wondering about the temp sender as to whether it is in the intake manifold during painting also? If not, then the thermostat housing would have to be removed to put the temp sender in later, which seems like an unnecessary step. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Bob

Bob, Can't answer your question, but,,,

I'd bet a cheeseburger the temp sending unit did not leave the factory painted. Check AIM - if the send unit is not called out (which I doubt), it was installed at Flint, either after paint, or before and masked off for paint.

Might also add, I can't picture why the send unit could not be installed unless you remove the T/Stat housing. But then, I'm very tired. Best, Dennis
