I can't get the chrome bezels to come out of the body on my 62 vet. Should they be tapped out or pried? I'm afraid to break the studs if i hit them with a hammer.

Re: tail light bezels
put speed nuts back on the tail light studs, get rubber headed hammer and tap gently being certain the face of the rubber hammer hits the speed nut directly, not a deflecting blow that could snap the stud from the tail light housing. good luck, mike- Top

Re: tail light bezels
George,
I suspect the problem is that the gasket material between the housing and the body has fused itself to both surfaces over time.
If Mike's suggestion doesn't work, find a small piece of pipe or a deep socket small enough to slide over the stud and actually reach the back of the housing. If there isn't enough room, try a larger socket that will fit over where the harness plug fits to reach the back of the housing and tap on it. The goal here is to transfer the tapping load directly to the back of the housing rather than the fragile stud itself.
It might also help to warm the area with a heat gun to soften the gasket material first.
good luck,
