    Frame stencil source..... The Doc

I just ordered a couple of 67 frame stencils from our good buddy "The Doctor" and I must admit that I am very happy with how they came out. The lettering matches exactly with that in Tripoli's Chassis restoration guide. They were a lot less expensive than Quanta. Only thing is that I had to give the Doc the dates that I wanted. I just figured that out to be a few weeks before the build date. Thought you guys might like to know..... save a few bucks.

Hi, just like to add, if your doing your own calculations, remember Jullian dates. Keep in mind Saturdays, Sundays, Hoildays, and most importantly in the late 60's to early 70's United Auto Workers Strikes. Quanta has been more than helpful on the five or so complete restorations that I've done. The price, not so bad considering all you have to do is give the build date of your car they have a pretty good collection of information gathered in the stencil/date area when it comes to the weekends/hoildays/strikes. The "Doc" would that be Rebuild? If it is, just a bit of caution unless it says NOS, be careful alot of items aren't 100% correct. Sorry Doctor, I don't mean to bash but, I have alot of parts sitting on the shelf of his that are new and not correct.

You can contact the "Good Doctor" at 203-366-1332. If you send him $4 to Dr. Rebuild, P.O. Box 6362, Bridgeport, CT 06606, he will send you his catalog. Don't bother to call, though, to just obtain the catalog; he does not accept credit cards for catalog-only orders. In my opinion, his is the best catalog in the business. Period. I would not be without his most current catalog. Although others may find this a controversial statement, I like doing business with the "Good Doctor"; I've found him to be a very "no nonsense kind of guy", perhaps to a fault.

However, bear in mind that the "Good Doctor" can be a little cantankerous at times. My recommendation is to obtain his catalog as described above. Then, peruse it, carefully noting his ordering and other policies clearly set out in the first few pages of his catalog. When ordering, fill out one of the order forms provided in the catalog, and fax or mail it to them.

Also, I don't think that we need to start another discussion of "The Good Doctor"; guys and gals, there is plenty of discussion already in the archives.

I certainly didnt post this to start a dailogue about the doc. Just to let everyone know that he has a good deal on correct-appearing stencils. I just used the Wednesday about 2 or 3 weeks prior to my cars birthdays, and looked on the calendar for the date. Made sure there weren't any holidays around then either. Silly thing is, you cant see anything but a little white paint after the body is mounted, even with a mirror.

Brandon, I am just about to stencil my 67 coupe. My stencil from Quanta Does not have the /GC markings which I believe should be there. Does your stencil have these markings? Would you know if these markings were only on certain VIN's? Thanks.
