Can anyone tell me if the attached GAS CAP is a 1957 Corvette ORIGINAL cap??

Are you sure that's a gas cap? Looks like an oil fill cap for the 69-82 valve covers.

Mike I don't believe so. It is hard to tell but it appears the cap in your picture is chrome plated. The 57 Stant cap would be cad plated and would not have the recessed center. It would be flat. A very good picture is in the 58-60 JM, and it may be in the 56-57 JM, as well. I do know for sure it is in the 58-60 JM. I know yours is a 57, but the stant cap is the same for 57 and 58.

Mike Chris is right. It is an oil filler cap that goes into the valve cover. I once looked long and hard for one for my '74. Don't toss it because it has the "S" in the center which guys like me look for.
