    Spark plug wire advice

I am changing out the wires on my 71 sb. I ordered the 8mm OEM Packard high temp set from Mid America. While putting them on the car, I found the #1 and #3 wire is 10-12 inches too short as I was correctly routing them. The packaged is marked for sb70-74. I have talked to them and since I had a buddy pick them up for me a while ago, they cant do anything for me. So I called Letric limited and told them what I wanted and they couln't help me. I don't want to go back to the 7mm original dated, wire set. I want to change over to 8mm for breakerless ignition. I would like the wire set to at least look like originals, but perform better. I call the local Advanced Auto, and they have a set for $20.00, but I don't think they are what I want. Any suggestions?

I don't understand why you need 8mm wires for purposes of breakerless ignition.

You have a wiring set for a standard 350 application. The Corvette routing requires longer wires and the box wording or part number must be for a Corvette.

Make sure you didn't mix up the 1/3 wires with 2/4. The longer two go to the 1/3 plugs.
I know that's obvious, but thought I'd throw that in there. I have a set of these same wires, and they fit fine.

Advanced Auto sells AC Delco wires. I think they are 506N??? I'm at work so this is memory. Ask them to look it up. They are about $55. They have orange ends at the plugs. They are the correct lenght. They might have to order them from the warehouse because they are for Corvettes and likely don't sell many. They however have them there.

Thanks, guys. No, the wire set is wrong that I got. They at Mid America are trying to track it down. The wires are too short. I have the #1 and #3 wire off the car and they are longer than any in the set. I will try Advanced Auto, if Mid America can fix the problem. I wanted 8mm wires over the standard 7mm, suppost to be better for electronic ignition(?)

The AC-Delco number for non-HEI SB Corvette wires is 508N.

I got an answer from Mid America today. They sent all the plug sets like mine back to the manufacturer. The plug wires (#1, #2, and #3) were 40 inches long, not 52 like they should be. They will contact me when they come in.
