Apparently there is a difference in the size of the "022" casting figures on Delco Morraine master brake cylinders. Which one would be correct for an early 1962, the large or small characters?

Clare--
make sure it has the 5454480 320-G stamped on the front plug. There were 022 used for other uses that didn't have the same stamping. Gm replacements also came through without that stamping. It's important for judging.- Top

Re: '62 master cylinder, which 022 casting?
Thank you Gentlemen. The one I found indeed has all the correct markings. It has never been sleeved and according to the guy who has it, it doesn't leak at all. He bought it and installed on his car but later found it was incorrect and changed, (he has a 56). I was planning to sleeve it with SS anyway but does it make sense to do that if the cylinder isn't pitted at all. Just wondering.- Top

With no pitting in the bore, if you use silicone fluid, I wouldn't spend the money to have it sleeved. Regular brake fluid--still wouldn't have it sleeved unless you're sleeving all the wheel cylinders as well.- Top

Re: '62 master cylinder, which 022 casting?
I already got my wheel cylinders sleeved with SS so they are good to go. They needed rebuilding. I'm going back and forth on the brake fluid issue. I know there are advantages to both types. I'll be starting fresh, not converting so compatability won't be an issue. If I use conventional I would change it every couple of years anyway.- Top
