The older vintage discontinued AC45 and 44 regular plugs are still available on Ebay. Question is ; are all AC45,s created equal ? I've noticed several different packaging changes through the years. Light blue box, dark blue box, blue and orange and most recent the medium blue and white box we've all seen for years; all say FIRE RING and have 4 = green stripes. Older ones have a copper colored gasket , newer have the silver . So would all perform equally in a 64, 327/300 SB ? Any help clearing this up will be appreciated.

Re: AC 44,45 Sparkplugs
AC 44's worked years ago and they still work the same way today as far as I know. So do 45's.
Old and new created equal? I doubt it. Any better/worse. I doubt that too.
I learned a long time ago not to use the 44's, R44's or R44S's. Too cold for my style of driving which was pretty aggressive back then. R45S fixed the problem.- Top

Re: AC 44,45 Sparkplugs
Unless you are doing it for judging, I'd run down to your LAPS and buy a set of AC R45 or R45S. On these 2500 mile per year cars, the 44 is usually too cold.
Also, they sell for $15 a set vs the $30 to $50 so common on eBay for such madness.
If judging, bite the bullet and buy one or two sets of 4 thin green striped AC 44 plugs. Put them in for the meet, remove then and save for the next meet.- Top

Re: AC 44,45 Sparkplugs
Thanks all, and Mike- thats exactly what I had in mind for judging after my restor is complete. I need the AC 44 thin green stripe for that. I was just "assuming" that the different packaging was merely artwork and marketing changes through the years. BTW, this was my first post on this site since becomming a new member a couple weeks ago and I can tell its going to be a big help. Thanks again, Jim- Top
