    68 T top question

What is the function of the triangular shaped chrome bolt on each side where the t-top meets the roof in the rear on a coupe?
How should it be mounted? Should they wedge against the t-top to steady it?
I notice my tops have a similar shaped triangular cutout in the chrome where this bolt might meet the top but it does not line up and I can't recall if it ever did.
Can anyone with a 68 or 69 coupe look at their t-top and tell me how this triangular bolt relates to the top itself, press fit, wedge fit, mate into the cutout on the top itself?
    Thank you
    Kurt

    Re: 68 T top question

    Kurt,

    It's the same for 68 through 77 (I believe).

The triangle should point up, and mate with the notch in the T-top. It's an alignment bolt, or at least that's how I think of it. You want it sticking out far enough to keep the T-top latch snug, and not so far back as to interfere with the chrome trim of the notch. You may need to adjust your tops front/back and side/side to get it all to fit.

Below is a picture of the notch in my T-top latch. The bolt you reference mates here.

      Re: 68 T top question

      Kurt,

Patrick is correct. Over many years I have seen tops misaligned in this area. The plastic triangular piece in the top often get askew because the triangular bolt is not lined up properly and is adjusted to far out. Often you will see the plastic piece tweeked and warped out of shape because the triangular bolt has been inserted between it and the metal behind it.
