    1954 Pennant Blue, 237K

Condition Description: Vendor claims one owner for the past 20 years and a frame-off restoration completed in 2005. Very nice paint, much better than when it left the factory. Good chrome. The restorer left the horrible factory-style gaps, a nice touch. Great vinyl and carpets, and very nice dash, though some little bits like the turn signal lever needs some help.

Market Opinion: Way over the top. This would have been an impressive number for a rarer and more desirable 1953 model. As it is, it's just about $120k more than expected. Yes, the Pennant Blue color is rare, but for a hundred large I'll paint your Polo White example and buy you dinner.

Gee, that does seem just a tad high. Maybe I'll sell my blue 54 for just over $200,000 and take the lucky new owner out to lunch at Arby's to celebrate what a deal he got. Where do these prices come from?

The 54's are sooooooooo rare tho ,never see 53's any more ( all bought up) and people think 55's have added a V8 motors so are Modified and should have a 6 banger ,That's what many people tell me when seeing my 55.

        Here's a '53 for ya:

And oh look, another '54 Pennant Blue. You think this seller saw that other one go at 237? Heck, maybe it's the same car and the guy is hoping flip it for $337 at Bloomington.

You see 200 Polo White with red interior 1954's for sale for every one Pennant Blue with the tan interior. Then to find a nice Pennant Blue that's recently been restored for sale is even harder.

That day, at the BJ auction, two people wanted the car. I'm sure each knew what they were doing with their money. So, on that day, at that time, at that place, on TV...a Pennant Blue restored with a turn signal arm issue and large gaps was worth $237,000.

I have a model match Pennant Blue without a turn signal arm issue and normal gaps restored for sale for $125,000.
