Power steering control cylinder

The power steering control cylinder on my 1966 is leaking a small amount of fluid and it's time for a repair / replace. The kit to rebuild it is inexpensive and the procedure looks easy enough.

Vette brakes makes a stainless steel sleeved cylinder that will "enhance your power steering performance" and extend your power steering service life. Anybody have any experience with this --- It's reasonable as well

I used one on my 68 about 10 years ago and still trouble free. Although I did have one problem. I ordered rebuilt units on an exchange basis. Didn't care about getting my originals back. When I received the valve, cylinder and hoses, I found that the threads on the end of the valve where stripped out. I had to return it for a replacement. The did so promptly and with no hassal what so ever! A class outfit!

Bill,
Before rebuilding your PS cylinder, first check the condition of the operating rod. If you can feel a worn area on the rod, chances are good that the rebuild will not be successful.

This was the case on my '65. I wanted to keep my original cylinder, so I sent it to Lone Star Caliper to have the rod replaced and they rebuilt the cylinder.
