    C-1 non-posi to posi ?

Advice needed, are there any issues changing out the non-posi with a posi unit in an early 1960 Vette? Are the Axles and housing the same for both? I would appreciate any comments. thanks

    Re: C-1 non-posi to posi ?

A posi banjo which holds the= ( axles & pumpkin housing ) is different then a non-Posi, a posi-banjo has baffles inside to control oil splash where the pumpkin is located , also each posi banjo axle bearing housings(ends) are deeper to hold the heavy duty wider bearings & axle.
But you can install a Posi pumpkin in to a non-Posi banjo.

      Re: C-1 non-posi to posi ?

In addition to what Roy said; posi axles are shorter. If a posi is used with non-posi axles it will eventually bind. Also, and I apologize as I can't remember how to tell the difference, but there are type 3 for 3.70 and type 4 for 4.11 gears. If you use a type 4 gear set in a type 3 housing as I recall there's a spacer or adapter? Good luck, Gary....
