    1964 365 engine questions

    Hi,

My understanding is the engine assembly date and suffix identification code format is FMMDDDXX. However, I saw a car with F074RE, which seems to be missing a digit. Is it possible to have a 3 digit date like this example?

Also, this same car has power steering. I have heard 1964 365 hp cars did not come with power steering. Is it possible to have power steering for a 365 hp car?

    Thank you,
    Brendan

    Re: 1964 365 engine questions

Power Steering was not available on any mechanical lifter engine. The longer deep section of the big pan precluded the power steering boost cylinder and also precluded the steering damper used on non-power steering vehicles.

Air conditioning was an available option on '64 365HP, but NOT power steering.
