    62 rear axle bearing seals

I'm having problems finding the correct rear outer axle bearing seals. The originals press fit into the bearing themselves the number stamped on the seal is C/R3555. measurements are 2 5/16 outside diameter and the seal is on a 1 7/8 diameter journal on the bearing. Web seal can not match me up with a replacement seal. The part Paragon sells is incorrect. Any help is appreciated.

buy a sealed bearing from your local bearings and transmissions dealer. ya won't need the original seal with a sealed bearing. mike

I just went through changing the bearings (sealed) on my axles. A word to the wise: Get the 1" wide sealed bearings with the double O-rings. If you get the narrower 0.9" sealed bearing with the single O-ring, you'll need to manufacture 0.1" spacers to fill the void.

        Mike and Don
Thank you for the info. Do you have a part number or where to find the 1" wide sealed bearings?

Gene - Corvette Central's PN appears to be 581019... better check with their customer assistance that the bearings are 1" wide and sealed. You'll have to do this research to find the solution for your application. Don't turn the job over to a machine shop without supplying them with the appropriate bearings as I did. I ended up with the narrow 0.9", single O-ring bearings and had to have spacers made - more cost and headaches than I wanted. It's a long horror story.

            Gene,

Try the following link to Ratech Manufacturing. http://www.ratechmfg.com/gmaxlebear.htm

I have ordered wheel bearings from them and was very pleased with what they sent me. They have the 2-o-ring wheel bearings listed for a reasonable price.

            Good luck.
