    Power steering test.

Finished my test and adjustment of my power steering setup on my bare chassis. The engine is not in the frame now. With the pump temporarily fastened to the front crossmeber, dare I say with mechanics wire, I used my 1/2" drill to a 7/8 socket to drive the pump. wheels off the ground. The wheels went to the right then I adjusted the adj. nut in the control valve inward making it worse so out I went, then they wanted to go to the left. Again I moved the nut inward till I found what I call centered. I do not have the supplement for my SM for adjusting this valve. Can someone critique from theirs. I will need to order one. Now when I run the drill I can definately feel a load from the pump, But the wheels are stationary. Am I done?? Thanks Dick Gutman

Disconnect the cylinder ram from it's mounting bracket and do the test/adjustment again. Try to center the nut so that the ram does not move one way or the other.

Having the entire steering assembly attached can mask some minor pull in one direction or the other.
