The center console (holding clock, radio, etc.) is not anchored to the floor. There is about a 1/4' gap. I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that this gap should not exist. If I press down on the section to which the dash pad is mounted, it will lower and fill the gap. I am concerned that if I bond it to the floor when pressed down it will create too much stress on the entire unit. Other alternatives are to just fill the gap or insert carpet in the space. Any suggestions as to which procedure is best?

Re: C1 Center console
Richard: The center piece should be bonded to a sererate bonding piece that is then bonded and screwed to the shift tunnel. This piece also incorporated the metal brackets that the lower chrome strip is screwed into. I would think it would be more stress on the dash to have it free than to have it attached. With your discription I wonder if you are missing the lower bonding piece. Tom- Top
