Most labels were applied by hand. Therefore human factors resulted in a variance of where the labels wound up being positioned. That's one of the reasons those who reproduce the labels generally don't supply mounting instructions with them (there is no truly 'correct' location)... Hence, I doubt anyone can tell you EXACTLY where the originals on your car were unless you recorded their original postions prior to restoration.

In fact, some labels were applied at one site and others at another site. Take the jacking instructions. On mid-year cars, the carpet came in as a kit from JP Stevens and the jack board was assembled with JP Stevens' carpet label applied to the jack board. At St. Louis, other labels were applied (e.g. jacking instructions, positraction warning). I've seen more than one untouched original where the St. Louis label was applied on top of the JP Stevens label!

Let the AIM be your guide for approximate label locations. In 73 (and maybe earlier) we begin to see Misc Label location information sheets. In 74, it's added to the index and by the end of production the AIM begin to produce charts that specify rather precisely label locations...due to the quantity used.

Fan shroud label usally on the RH side near the top on the extension not the shroud. Gas label was on the inside of the center rear compartment. May only be on early 73's as many have none.As I recall the early gas label is round and later it is a rectangle. Positraction and jack label go on RH rear compartment lid. The jack label is the small one so if they won't fit you have the wrong label. I have a few 73's so email me with your phone # if you need more information.
