    A big thank you...

to all who have answered my questions about Corvettes. This forum is great. I hope I have always remembered to thank the people who helped me out.

I may be in the minority on this, but I think its fine to thank people in the thread rather than a personal email. For readers, it does not take much time to read "Thanks Duke" in a post. Also it lets others know that you're the kind of person who gives thanks for the help. If others can't see that you thanked someone, then they may not be willing to answer your questions in the future. They may think you're a jackass instead. I say keep the thanks coming.

p.s. I've got some questions lined up, so get ready.

      What did I do?

The best way is to probably just type "Thanks, Joe" into the subject line and when it posts the title will read "Thanks, Joe *NM*". Regular users will know that *NM* means "no message" and won't waste their time opening the post.

A simple acknowledgement also indicates that you received and understand the information.

Good thought, but I assume on a thread of any length you would "view all" so that you can scroll right through all the messages, not open each one by itself. That's why I think the archives are hard to use. You can't view the whole thread. It's too difficult going through posts one by one. It would drive a person bonkers.

I would think most guys that share information need no thanks , their thanks is giving what knowledge they can share ( that's called good people) and I've seen little evidence that most people using this forum are any thing els.
