Every book I have seen lists the last 63 vette made in March as serial number 111833. Ebay has an original 63 owner protection plan for serial number 111860. The car was sold in California on April 11, 1963. Is this possible? How could a car manufactured the begining of April be sold in California on April 11 1963! Does anyone know how long the cars sat before shipment? Also is there any relationship to the letters(A-B-C) on the coupons and the month the car was sold? Last question. The engine number for the car is (FO 385SD). Any ideas what the "5" is for?

Re: C-2 Dates and Numbers
Bob, My 63 was built April 20th and the delivery date in my owner protection plan is April 26th. The owner protection plan was used on multiple models in 63. On a macro level there probably is a relationship between the book and the build date but I think it's impossible to track.
As I recall the engine number was written in the book at the dealership, it's probable a salesman error. Can you list the eBay URL.

Cars left the factory and went to a 'holding area' where they were available for OTR or rail carrier pickup. Presuming the car was pre-sold by the original dealer (vs. being a 'spec' inventory vehicle) and everything clicked just right in terms of carrier transport availability, it sure could have gone from St. Louis to the dealer in time to make a 4/11 customer delivery... SN 11860 would have been built on the first work day in April leaving 10 days for it to get across the country.- Top
