    C2 Gauge cluster lenses-- loose?

    Hi gang--

i just got my 67 gauge cluster back from the rebuilder and the lenses for the small gauges are somewhat loose. Is this normal? I looked and the gaskets are installed, and the fasteners inside are tight. The large lenses are tight as well. Just wanted to check in and get some opinions to see if this is going to be a problem. Thanks!

Not normal. they will vibrate and drive you crazy. The lens mounting cushions tend to go flat over the years and allow the lens to be loose. Long Island sells a kit for this repair. Part number 39-36.

      Brandon,

There is an inner sheetmetal retainer which holds the lenses/isolators to the housing. There should be at least three small rubber isolators in place behind each lens. This retainer is fastened with speed nuts. You should VERY CAREFULLY tighten it down a small amount to take up the clearance between the lenses, isolators, and housing. Be careful not to overtighten.
