I need a little knowledge about metric bolts. I recently bought a new A6 air compressor to cure the problems I have had with leaking rebuilts. New A6 compressors have metric threads.
My local Home Depot had most of the mounting bolts. However the bolt that holds the muffler assembly on the compressor has me confused.
The new compressor came with a short 10MM metric bolt to hold a protective end plate over the compressor ports. The bolt says 9.8 on the hex end and appears to be a 10MM -1.5 according to the gauge at Home Depot. I need a 35MM long identical bolt. The bolt I purchased is a 10MM- 1.5 X 35MM but the bolt head says 8.8. It also has a 17 MM hex head which barely fits the pocket om the muffler assembly.
What is the decimal number on the bolt head?
