Rear cross member replacement for 1960

I am getting ready to remove and replace the rear cross member of my 1960 frame. I see that it is attached to the main frame with rivets. How do I attach the new rivets to the frame? They are not like bolts that you can tighten with a wrench.

Also, I was thinking of purchasing the replacement member from Corvette Central. Does anyone have any comments about their frame parts?

    Thank you

I used the cross member from Corvette Central and it worked very well. It fit like the original and was easy to replace. I feel sure there is only one primary source for this part, maybe even GM. I had a local machine shop do the job while the frame was bare, they replaced the rivets just like the factory.

        Richard,

I had to replace mine also. Got it and the rivets from Zip. It takes rivets at the rear but is welded at the front. I was able to re-rivet the new one by heating with acetylene and using a big hammer and then MIG'ed across the front. How's your battery box? I had to replace it too.
