    How Deep is it?

I am having pulley alignment problems and suspect that my water pump pulley is from a passenger car and the bell may not be deep enough. Is there a difference in depth between the correct 3724816 C-1 pulley and that from a passenger car? The diameter looks to be the same at around 7-1/8". Also, is the crank pulley nearly on the same plane as the mounting hub or is it offset, projecting forward somewhat?

I have the crank balancer spacer in place.

If anyone knows I would appreciate the correct depth. The one I have is approximately 2-3/4" from the back rim to the front outside hub (where the fan mounts).

    Thanks!

    Re: How Deep is it?

My car is a late '59, 270hp and the dimensions are as follows:

    Water pump pulley....#316....Deep grooove....Front to rear....2 5/16"
    Crank pulley.........#328....Deep groove.....Front to rear....1 7/16"

I have a rebuilt original water pump (#493), an original spacer between the pump and pulley and the 1/8" thick spacer on the crankshaft under the balancer (#318). They all line up perfectly with each other and with the generator pulley.

I've heard about non-original water pumps having shafts of different lengths and also non-original harmonic balancers with different dimensions as well which could be contributing to your issue.
