C2 bellhousing will 11" clutch fit

I am replacing my original L79 (to be kept for later) with a zz383. The centerforce 11 seems to be highly recomended by many on the board. Will an 11" set up fit in my original bellhousing?
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Larry -

No, it won't - you'll need a 621 bellhousing to accommodate an 11" clutch and 168-tooth flywheel. I ran a 10.5" Centerforce II and 153-tooth flywheel in a 403 bellhousing with the 440hp 383 in my tube-frame Grand Sport with no problems.

        L88 only used 10" clutch

Stock parts are frequently just as good except all the aftermarket companies spend $$$ advertising their products. I was using a stock L88 clutch on my 12:1 solid lifter 427 (with headers) and it held up fine for years. It didn't slip, the pedal pressure was ok, it fit into the 403 bellhousing and it didn't "overcenter" despite MANY 6500 and 7000 rpm shifts.

        Good luck with your project,
        Mark
