    What did I do wrong?

I bought the Firestone Vintage 670-15 tires and recently had them put on the rims. Just went to put the spare in my newly painted trunk and it won't fit in! I even deflated the tire quite a bit and still it won't go. The radius is just too big and and it won't sit all the way down in the well.

      Roy,

The car and rims are both '59. It must be that the new Firestone reproductions have a bigger radius.

I will gladly take you up on that tire offer. I'll send you an email.

      Thanks.

I also had a set of 'new' repro 6:70-15 tires from Coker and they didn't fit either. Then went into the archives and there is an article about repro tires. I had to force it into the well. Bill

i had the same problem w my 57. as explained to me by coker pers, dot requires all new tires to be inflated immediately after production. this causes tires to permanently expand, thus the oversize. i told this to a rep from diamond tire co and he said he never heard such a story. go figure. you might want to give diamond a try w them guaranteeing them to fit. good luck. d.

Re: What did I do wrong?

I looked at the tires again even the worst tire still has some tread, good for a spar if you drive your Corvette , they say
B.F. Goodrich Silvertown- Safetyliner Tubeless 670x15 4 ply so one is left for some one needing a spar or so that you can get the tire board to lay flat.

Question while judging you have all four tires in WW but the spar is Black wall would the judges take points off ??????????
