    C3 69 Stamp Pad

Here's another picture of my pad, I gotta learn how to do more than 1 picture at a time. What do you think?

Tell us more what do you know of the pad. Some funny scratches hard to get a good look at the characters.

Car has been in storage since the 80's. Engine rebuilt, put back in car and ran very little. Owner sold car in 91 and still in storage until I bought it.
      That's what I know....

The stamp looks old. The spacing seems consistent. The two "L"s are canted and I'm sure that gives some something to wonder about, but since they both slant to the same direction, I'd think they were right. If one went one way and the other another, then I would worry.

Scratches and stuff on pads are normal. Too many think these cars lived in an air conditioned room with pampered room service. Instead, people poked, prodded, and jabbed all the time. Cleaning the grease off with a knive, file, putty knive, or sandpaper was SOP before the insanity of today's restorations and prices.

I'd lean towards it being original with the info you have and what we can see. part of it is that it is a 390 hp, and less likely to be faked than a 400 or 435 hp. If I were stamping and not caring about the ethics, I'd make it a 435 if the options allowed and if not, then a 400 hp. Kind of like why stamp a 250 hp when you can stamp a 350 hp.

Looks to be a good old pad in the picture. Must say I need to see them in person to be more correct in judgement.

From what I know, it looks like a good pad to me. Seeing in person might make a difference, but from what is pictured it looks good.

            Cheers,

            Steve
