I've had my 67 coupe for 10 years but it had no seat belts. I finally received the seat belts from Karl at SCUMWEST (Sunwest Auto Specialties) but now I can't find any of the anchor locations for any of the 4 belts. The carpet was replaced years ago and the holes where the belts bolt on are now hidden. Can anyone provide me a photo of where exactly their 67 seat belts attach? I'm thinking a photo would help me know where to begin looking for the 4 anchor locations. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 67 seat belt installation
Wayne - I suggest you work from the underside of the car and locate the seat belt anchor plates that should be near the rear inboard and outboard corners of the seat wells. Inboards should have a plate with a stud for the nut and the outboards should have plate with a nut for the bolt. Pete- Top

Re: 67 seat belt installation
As suggested, poke from under the car using an awl. With a helper in the car, mark the position on the carpet. To get the hole large enough for the bolt, I used a pencil point soldering iron. It burns a nice, clean and neat hole without any unraveling of the carpet. You can adjust the hole easily using careful application of the point of the soldering iron.
I assume you have the bolts but you may find that they need to be chased with a tap to clear the rust out.

Re: 67 seat belt installation
Wow, Gary and Pete you both were very helpful. Thank you so much for the photos and detailed information as to the locations and helpful tips on installing the belts. I'm going out in my garage now and try what you both have suggested. Thanks again.- Top

Re: 67 seat belt installation
I just found the 2 inboard mounting studs and nuts, and 1 outboard screw. The drivers side outboard screw and anchor are missing and the area was glassed over. I have drilled a hole in the correct area and will put a new bolt and nut in this location. The area is very tight between the bottom of the seat well and the frame in that area, so it won't be easy getting a new bolt and a large washer in from the underside. But I will get it done and thanks again to Gary and Pete for the tips.- Top

Re: 67 seat belt installation
Wayne - Your response indicates the driver's side outboard screw and anchor are missing. It's not clear from your description if the driver's side underbody seat belt reinforcement corner piece and the seat belt cable are there. Hopefully, everything is there and you are good to go. If not, check the '67 AIM or the Long Island Corvette Supply catalog for a description of the corners pieces and cables for your installation. Pete- Top
