'71 Door Hinge slightly sagging

Guys (and gals if there are any out there),

My '71 has the driver side door slightly sagging. It never really bothered me before but now it is kind of taking a toll on the interior door panel when the panel rubs the striker. I can lift it and it does have some slight play. My queston is......

Is this normal?
Should I change the hinge?
Can it just be adjusted upward?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

This is normal. You can change out the bushing and the hinge pin with parts readily available from your local Chevy dealer or any of the usual parts houses. I suspect (but don't know for sure) that the same bushings and pins are available from Buick/Cadillac/Pontiac dealers too.

This is a very easy fix - it just requires care in not scratching your paint when you tap in the pin.

The hinge pin bushings are worn - common wear problem - most of the vendors have replacement bushing kits.

Your local auto parts store may have the bushings mine has them.
