Re: 69 ZL-1 timing gear cover
Clem,
I just looked in a 1969 printing of the parts book and there's no mention of a separate tab. In fact, the group that they are in, 0.219, doesn't even exist in that book. The 69 printing calls for cover part number 3935444 for all sp. H/Per 427's including ZL1, which includes the tab/pointer.- Top

Re: thanks guys.
Clem,
Do you remember the very first design ZL1 oil pump that was actually part of the timing chain cover? Instead of the conventional location in the oil pan, the 1st design engines used a machined down front pump from a Turbo 400 transmission that fit over the snout of the C/Shaft, just behing the balancer. If I remember correctly, this design was used for some early Can-Am engines and was at one time scheduled for the production ZL1 Corvette but by the time the engine hit production, the conventional oil pump system had replaced the front drive system. I still have some of the original prints on this somewhere.- Top
