I would like to thank all of you who offered suggestions to my previous question posted May 2, 2006, at 3:34 p.m. I have just completed assembly and modification to my trailer and it works perfectly with my 1963. The "R" hooks to the frame seem to be the best way to go. I attached "E" channel all around the perimeter of the trailer and can now tie down anything that will come along. Actually, I am not using tne "E" channel hardware in the front due to the short distance available to the "E" channel. I decided to utilize the "D" rings attached by the trailer supplier (Trailex). I now actually have a choice to use "E" channel or the "D" rings at the rear. It is easy to cross the tie-down straps in the rear but not in the front due to rubbing on the lower radiator support and the lower fascia, so they are straight from the frame to the "D" rings.
In summary, if I were to simply want to tow my C2 on a Trailex trailer I would not need to install the "E" channel hardware and simply use tie-downs with "R" hooks on one end and snap hooks on the other. My sincere thanks for all the help!
