1970 C3 spindle color

Can someone please let me know what color the front spindles on my 70 C3 should be. Right now they have some rust and are dirty, but they appear to have been painted orange.

Should be natural steel. Could or could not have orange paint inspection marks on them

Dick, Thanks for the response.

I thought it shoud be steel color like you said, but the orange on these dont look like markings to me. These are orignal parts too, I got the car from my dad who is the original owner. I can assure you he didnt paint these or have them painted.

I took a quick picture so you can see what I am talking about. Things like this sure make it confusing as to what appearance original things should be.

you will find that some have a lot of orange paint on them like it ran down them.

My original '71 front spindles had very similar markings. Those markings look original.
