C- 2 radio

I am having a reception problem on my radio. The car is a 63 with a correct 63 am fm radio. I had the radio rebuilt a couple of years ago. The radio seems to work correectly however the reception is very poor.
On am I only get a couple of stations and I have to turn the volumn up quite a bit, fm is worse.
I have a correct antenna. The antenna wire is a replacement wire.
I'm thinking it must be a bad ground or a bad antenna wire.
Thought I might get some good suggestions on testing here.

Bob,

Have you adjusted the antenna trim? This is set by tuning to a weak AM station around 1200 on the dial, and turning the adjusting screw for max volume. I am almost sure that this requires removal of the radio.

Bob, as Joe suggested, adjust the AM side of the antenna. On a 63 the adjustment screw can be accessed by removing the right side radio cover. Have the antenna all the way up when you make the adjustment. As I recall the FM side is just antenna height.

Bob....I had exactly the same problem as you and it turned out to be a faulty antenna wire (brand new reproduction from Corvette Central)...Good Luck
