    63E Wiring for Dash Cluster

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for an early 63 (if early matters) they can email me? I'm attempting to replace my dash cluster and I don't want to repeat my last mistake and accidently hook up the wrong wires and fry the hot going to the amp/volt guage....scary seeing smoke :-)..I'm ok with the connectors that have plugs on them (ignition, lighter, etc) and the light bulbs, it's the loose single wire connectors that I'm having trouble with.

There are two groups of wires coming off the main harness behind the dash. The right side has the following: (I'm going off memory cause the car is a storage garage and like and idiot, I didnt' write them down) Does anyone know where these go?
    1 Green
    2. Black with white strip
    3. Brown
    4. Gray
    5. Black

    Thanks.

Wiring diagram is in your copy of the Assembly Instruction Manual and repeated in the '63 Corvette Shop Manual...

The two "singles" you don't want to mix up are the 14-ga. brown (radio capacitor connection - it's HOT with the key on) and the 14-ga. black/white (cluster ground, to spade above the tach). If you connect the brown wire to the cluster ground spade, you'll have an incredibly memorable dead short when you turn the key on.

I appreciate all the responses. I do have a wiring diagram. I'm having a little trouble tracing two wires. Both wires come off the left side of the harness and are relatively short..4-6 inches in lenght if that helps. Both wires have the push on female style (thin piece of brass inside a black housing).

            1. Black with Green Stripe. I can't find this in any wiring diagram. The car is a FI with a buzzer alarm so I'm thinking it might be for that purpose however, I can't see that indicated in any of the diagrams. Any ideas where that might be? or where the buzzer would be? Someone told me it's not inside the tach. Is this correct?

            2. Tan or possibly Brown? Again on the left side with same end. I'm thinking this might be for the radio capacitor connection but this is on the other side of the cluster??

Good call. This is exactly what happened. The capacitor was inserted into the plug and when the plug was inserted onto the amp guage, it was ever so slightly pushed out and touching the console which caused the short. Now my headlights don't work? Motors work. Dash panel lights up. All the fuses look good. I haven't tried the high beams but the lows don't for sure. Turn signals work fine. I'm stumped?? I should just sell it.
