Hi all -
Just an FYI - I was tinkering on the '63 today and had the passenger side door panel off. Mid-winter, I scored a really nice set of matching door panels cheap. So today, I was finally able to make a direct comparison. And like so many '63 things, there is a difference.
In the picture, you are looking at the bottom back of the two panels; my original is on the bottom. As you can see, mine has a seam sewn with cord through the panel at the place where the vinyl meets the carpet on the front. The other panel is not sewn through (the carpet is sewn to the vinyl).
Mine is dated "7" (July). The other is dated "2" (Feb). So I figure somewhere in between, they started sewing this seam. Maybe they found that the unsewn panels were sagging or flapping - who knows. Anyway, another '63 fun fact to file away.
Pete
