    Clutch head drivers

Where can I buy clutch head drivers or bits. My search of the normal tool sites and restoration houses came up dry unless they call them something different.
    Thanks,
    Tom

I looked on the Craftsman tool site and I would get tons of hits for clutch head drivers or bits search but the stuff that came up didn't have any clutch head tips.

Tom, after years of looking as I needed one for my 63 steering wheel. I finally found them at Carlisle. I can't remember the dealers name, but he was near the big food concession.

Thanks. I know I read where to get them at some time in the past. I suppose I could modify old flat tip screwdrivers if all else fails.

            Re: Clutch head drivers

I know Snap-on has them. I expect the other companies which cater to professional mechanics (Matco, MAC, Caldwell, etc.) have them as well. There was a thread in which this subject came up within the last year or so, and I believe someone provided a link to them at Sears. The thread was about Holley carburetors though, so it might be hard to find in the archives.

Here is one set with 2 clutch bits in it -- Right size? You will have to go to the store and check.

            http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...cegjdghldgfk.0

            Here is another one:

            http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...seBVCookie=Yes

Since these are long URLs you may have to copy and paste them. These are just the first two that come up when searching the Sears tool section for "clutch." I had to cull them from all the power screwdrivers without bits. There may be more there as well. If you live near a Sears with a large hardware department, you might have better luck just taking the screw there -- but given the level of what passes for customer service in most retail establishments today, it will be pot luck.

              Tom,

I found them at Orchard Supply in CA on the rack with all the driver bits. There was a couple of different sizes. Orchard is owned by Sears but the bit card I got was not a Craftsman product.

Try an RV store or I have found them at Ace Hardware.

                  Tom,
Covette Central has a set of three sizes in their catalog. There is also a new set right now on ebay in the 1956-1957 corvette parts section. Whoever is selling them runs them almost continually.

                      Look for these

The 5/32" one is used for the Holley secondary metering plate.

Snap-On is where I obtained my set. They come in bits for a screw driver or as 3/8 drive for socket set. snapon dot com.

Just ask your NAPA/whatever supplier to call and order the bits for you.

                              They're there!

Most of the guys who work at Sears are so young they don't know what a clutch head bit is! But, you'll find an 'omnibus' set of driver tips at Sears packaged as three individual red plastic 'cages' held to a point of display cardboard 'pretty box'. The set has something like 40 or so drivers in it and costs a whooping $10, but contains two clutch head driver tips reflecting the sizes commonly used by Chevy.

You simply find the clutch head bits and slip 'em onto a 1/4-inch driver. You used to be able to get individual clutch head screw drivers from the professional route drivers like Mac Tools, Etc. But, there's been so little demand in recent years that they've discontinued these.

My Snap-On rep actually had a full set of Snap-On original clutch head screw drivers and I bought them. They'd been on his truck for over 10-years and were discontinued BEFORE he bought the truck/route!
