    C2 shifter linkage

Drove the 65 this A.M. and noticed a little trouble shifting in and out of gear. The linkage is as dry as a bone and wonder how much grease to apply to each. The clutch is new and disengages properly. Can anyone help? Also Having trouble removing Knob for heater does ome (Upper right( screw off?..................Thanks Joe

    Re: C2 shifter linkage

    Joe:

Do you have original Muncie linkage or is it Hurst? Is the linkage adjusted properly, by pinning 1-3 and 2-4 rods in neutral gate? Just a little dab of white lithium grease on all pivot points'll do ya'. If the clutch disengages too low to the floor, it will be hard to shift. Adjust for about 1 1/4" freeplay per the Shop Manual.

Your 2nd question -- yes, knob screws off

Assuming you are not talking about an A/C car. Once you pull the Air-Pull-Def knob partially out, there are two "flats" on each side of the shaft which would take adjustable wrench with a 0.14" gap (or a 9/64ths wrench, if such a thing exists). Hold shaft while turning knob counterclockwise.
