I am trying to finish building my engine and I need to find the correct steel freeze plugs, 1 3/4 inch round by about 1/2 inch deep with nothing stamped in them. I called LI corvette and they said they had them but when I received them they were only 1/4 inch deep which is not correct. A lot of vendors claim to have the correct ones but they are only 1/4 inch deep which when compared to originals are not correct. Corvette Central has them but they are a month on backorder. I have tried Chicago Corvette, Zip Products, and Paragon with no success. Does anyone know who else may carry the correct ones? Thanks, Don.

I bought my correct steel freeze plugs from my GM dealer last year - I compared them to the originals to be removed for a rebuild (1966 L72) and they where dead on. -

Peter, Your right! The only exception is that Chevrolet may be on the verge of discontinuing them because I was told that there is no indication of any further shipments to dealers. I had to find a dealer that already had them in stock and by the description the partsman gave me they sound correct. Thanks a lot for your help. This forum really helps out. Don.Comment
