Spark plug wire supports (C1 & others?)

When did spark plug wire supports (the small two wire supports, not the brackets with grommets) start appearing with rubber on the part where the wires attach? Or, have they always had rubber on them? Specifically, I'm wondering which my '62 should have. Thanks.

Bill, thanks for your response. You are saying that Corvette wire supports have always had rubber on them?

The part number 3744408 goes back to '58 and is the same in '65. That is generall a good indication the part is identical in a production application. Also, I've hs a '58 block in my possesion recently, and the clips still had a little of the coating on them. Gm was paranoid about not exposing the sparkplug wire jacket to any sharp metal edges.
