I recently purchased a 1969 Coupe and was wondering; should the inside of the rear window storage tray be lined with something or is the window supposed to have some type of storage bag that it fits into? I am concerned about scratching the glass by placing the window, unprotected, in the storage tray.
The 1st design rear window storage tray '68 thru '70 models had a black flocking on the surface that the window laid in. The shelf was made of a fiberboard material, the flocking material that is used on the inside of your two rear storage bins is of the same material.
Second design tray '71 & '72 used a fiberglass type material shelf and was not lined with anything.
I guess my car has the black flocking; doesn't seem like much protection for a piece of glass. I might have to look into having a storage cover made similar to what they have for the T-tops.
