Just got home after a the MAC Event.... Just wanted to take the time and thank ALL of the judges and organizors of this event. Thank you all so much for a great week end. I got my car judged, and through my own stupidity, managed to fry an engine harness during a jump start, because I drained my battery during the interior judging, not shutting down the battery with the cutoff switch, I forgot. Well as you can imagine, I was really down in the dumps...after working 5 years to do a complete restoration, I managed to screw it up in only a few seconds, and only God knows how much damage I did to the other components.
Aside from this, the judges and all the folks involved did a great job, and I learned SO much on how to improve my car. I plan to attend and get my car judged at the New England Regional in September, and this event has helped me so much understand the judging process and most of all the intent of the judges. It's meant to pass knowledge to you on taking your car to the next level. Not once, even after I screwed up, was my car or I critisized, but instead I received valuable advise and excellent tips on how to make my 63 Coupe better.
You know, I really was nervious and I admit a little upset when first being judged, as this was my first event. But I learned quickly, they were not really tearing down my car, they were providing me with valuable insite and information on how to improve and correct variouse items. Sure some things were much more open to subjective judging, and I can accept that, but most was very objective straight to the point, this items must be corrected. Its a hard and nerve racking experience, especially after you flunk the performance part, but you know, my wife and I walked away meeting some really nice people, having a great time, and learning much more then I thought I would. What more can you really ask for? Sorry for being long, as I really wanted to express my feelings and experiences to both the folks who were there and the ones who read this...
Many thanks...and you will see my 63 again.... Oh yeah, even though I messed up the performance judging by frying my engine harness, I still managed to get third flight award, and after the day I had, I was surprized at the diner when my name was called and I got this award....to me, under the circumstances this award means as much to me as receiving a blue top flight ribbon, because the folks who were there applauded and recongized my folly of the day, and I the folks there was just as happy as I was to get third flight....thanks to all!
