    Corvette Specialties of Maryland ??

Just got back my glove box door, gauge cluster, clock etc. from Corvette Specialties of Maryland. All looks good except they did not remove a dent on the inside of the glove box door. It is very obvious. Is this normal to leave a dent and call it restored? If I would have done this door myself, I would have at the least used some body filler. Their ad makes no mention of these types of repairs. Anyone else have this happen? I will call them and discuss this with them. Anyone! Dick Gutman

I had a tach rebuilt by them. They are overpriced, take too long, and extremely arrogant. Good luck telling them you're not happy. They wanted me to pay the return shipping so they could correct their mistakes. Considering I spent over $300, they had the nerve to tell me I was being too picky.

      Dick,

They got my business once and I'll never go back. Very arrogant. I spent over $900 for a cluster and clock rebuild and the clock had a dead short on arrival. I called to discuss clock issue to be sure I was troubleshooting it correctly and they were rude.

I emailed them tonight. This is exactly why I would rather do all the work myself or have it done locally. Your replies are not encouraging, but true. If I knew how to do these components, than by all means it wouldn't have left my shop. Dick Gutman

          Dick,

Try reviewing their description(if there is one) of exactly what they do during restoration of the door. Maybe you'll find something there to go back to them with...or call them, and without identifying yourself, ask them if any such defects are normally repaired during the door restoration. Just a couple of thoughts.....By the way, did they repaint the inside of the door, right over the dent?

Interesting, in that was my gut feel after speaking with them at spring Carlisle. I had no prior opinions but they didn't even want to take the time to answer some questions about getting my 67 done. Just threw a pamphlet at me. I went away thinking they really didn't want the work & that I should look elsewhere or tackle myself "they really aren't that bad & just need some silk screening done on a few".

Yes, they painted the inside of the door, right over the dent. Besides the dent, I'm happy with the job. Now I wish I would have done it myself. I hope they respond to my email. Thanks Dick Gutman

                Dick,
I had them do my 65' Cluster, Clock and Glove Box Door in 2004.
                Looks GREAT and working.
Brian was the owner, I talked to him direct prior to sending.
Worked out the details once her received my stuff.
I was very happy......don't know why they have changed their behavior.
                Call Brian. Good Luck.
                Lane

                  Dick,

I would approach them with the fact that it was obvious you wanted the door to look new, or you wouldn't have sent it to them. They had to have seen the dent in the process of preparing the inside for paint, and either have repaired it, or atleast called you to authorize any additional charge, if any, to do so. Hope you get some satisfaction...

I used Rick's Restoration, Manchester, Md., to restore my instr. cluster, clock and glove box. Rick may have worked for CS at one time -- never the less, great job, timely and reasonable. CS has the reputation of being high in price and long in time.

Would not do business again with them. Had a clock re-done and it lasted about 7 months and the face fell off while traveling down a road. I confronted them at Carlisle and they wanted me to pay shipping to send it back. Told me they could not take it there and said it would cost another $35 to fix the problem. I took it over to Roger and he showed me the problem. They never had the screw holes even drilled deep enough for the screws to take hold.Roger got my business. Just my 2 cents

I was going to post a pic of this dent but can't. Are you guys who post pictures on this site using a website or a webhost??? If you can post Directly from your computer please explain how. Anyway, I received an email from Brian at Corvette Specialties of Maryland and also spoke to a female employee on the phone. They explained to me for what their restoration cost to restore the glove box cannot cover dent repair. Their labor cost is $50/hour. Brian said to fix a dent like this would take at least an hour or more and with it being aluminum there is a good chance the repair would show through the paint anyway. He explained that by the time the glove box door was repaired I could have simply bought a new door. I simply wished he would have given me a choice. I could have purchased a new door or had him return it to me and I would have removed the dent myself. I try to restore as many parts as I can. Now I have a restored door with a dent. How many points will this one get me? This issue is now dead. I will live with this one. Thanks Dick Gutman
