Re: 63 frame restoration
If your doing a frame off the easiest way it to media blast the frame. If your doing it frame on. Side grinder with wire brush, Thier is an air toll for buffing wheels. I found a wire brush that would fit it and it worked well. Mainly a frame on takes a lot of time and elbow grease. No primer, go to a PPG automotive paint store get a good semi gloss back.- Top

Re: 63 frame restoration
I would epoxy primer it black and then put the original asphalt based black paint over it. Taking the rust off can be done a number of ways. I assume the frame is stripped. Some people have there frame dipped at a specialty shop that can chemical strip your frame (look in the yellow pages in your area). Sand blasting is fine but use fine sand and take your time. Don't over do it. I don't like real coarse sand because if can pit the metal. Check all the welds on the frame and fix any that look questionable. I would just use a good wire feed to do that. Take it to a frame shop and have them tweek it true. Paint and detail to your desire. Lots of fun. Buy a detail kit from Quanta and put all the pretty markings back on it. I also sell a tool for restoring the front crossmember if yours is dented in like so many are. Take care, Terry tfringo@aol.com- Top
